Severin Safari Camp Tsavo

Amidst Tsavo west park this place reflects the deep bond with the country like nothing else. The camp welcomes guests with wellness and very personal service and culinary highlights amidst the African wilderness. Located between the famous Mzima springs and the big Tsavo river you will find our unfenced Severin safari camp.
Accommodation
Severin safari camp is designed in a harmonious and natural design. The tents, junior suites and suites are equipped with wooden furniture in a traditional African style. Bright and warm colours care for a comfortable and personal atmosphere. From each of the 27 tents, Junior Suites and Suites you enjoy a wonderful view over the bush landscape and the water holes where the wild animals pass by undisturbed. Maasai warriors accompany you to the restaurant or back to your tents after dawn. Additionally you can experience a very special safari adventure at our Kitani bandas – as a self-caterer amidst the bush.
Tents
All 21 octagonal tents with robust canvas cloth are equipped with running hot and cold water, shower, separate toilet and bidet, comfortable beds with mosquito nets and private terrace with camping chairs. We will be also glad to welcome guests with walking disability. In this case we will reserve centrally located tents which can be provided with a ramp. The tents are equipped very handicapped friendly. We will advice you on the detailed measurements and possibilities and will also be glad to recommend safari operators who are attuned to guests with walking disabilities. Each tent offers 220V electricity, a hair dryer, a safe and WIFI access free of charge.
Junior suites
The four stone masoned junior suites are equipped with a kingsize bed, a separate living room, minibar, coffee- and tea making facility, a sun deck with loungers and a private courtyard with outdoor shower. The junior suites named Mzima springs, roaring rocks, Chyulu hills and Shetani cave offer spacious and sun flooded bathrooms with two hand washing basins and are also ideal for families with two children.
Executive suites
The raised observation deck with sunloungers of our Kibo and Mawenzi Suites offers a wonderful view to Mt. Kilimanjaro and the wide savannah of Tsavo. The spacious suites with kingsize bed and robust tent canvas are additionally equipped with a corner bathtub and with the adjacent tent which can be booked in addition perfectly suitable for families. When booking a junior suite or executive suite, the coffee- and tea making facility as well as the basic equipment of the minibar are included.
Kitani bandas
The 8 Kitani bandas are equipped with a 4,5 sq.m kitchenette including cutlery, crockery, gas stove and a washing basin. Table and chairs are at your disposal. Additionally there is a 5,7 sq.m bathroom with towels and running hot and cold water and toilet. Bedroom is 25 sq.m and can contain 4 beds. These are provided with duvet covers and mosquito nets. From the roofed veranda you look directly to your private fireplace and can watch the animals passing by. The perfect base to watch the animals. There is a central fridge. You can use the pool & gym at the nearby camp area. You will also find a private parking lot directly beside your banda as well as a room steward. The Kitani lodge is situated about 1,5 km away from Severin safari camp.
Activities
The camp manager couple will be happy to personally advice you on our offers. For example discover the secrets of the African wilderness on foot in the early morning and accompanied by one of our Maasais. During the walk around the camp you get to know many interesting things about tracking the animals, the ecosystem, the diverse bird life and the traditional way of life of the natives. Or you join a KWS ranger and watch the wild animals with him from close distance during a 4 hours walking safari through the savannah. A very special experience is the sundowner at poacher’s lookout. Watch the beautiful sunset while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine and canapés with the music of out of Africa in the background.
Direction
Severin safari camp can be reached by scheduled flights from the airports of Mombasa and Nairobi Wilson or with private charter flights. The nearest airstrips are Finch Hattons and Kilaguni, which are served daily by Safarilink from Nairobi Wilson and by Mombasa air safaris from Mombasa. Charter flights with the luxurious Cessna caravan of Scenic air safaris are available on request. You can also reach the camp with local buses from Mombasa or Nairobi. You drive to Mtito Andei and will be picked up there after prior request.
Restaurant and bar
We serve breakfast buffet as well as à la carte lunch and dinner in our out of Africa restaurant. The chef’s speciality is marinated meat from the Kenyan highlands served on hot stone or as a fondue, in addition we serve fresh vegetables, salad and herbs. Extraordinary wines complete the culinary experience amidst the bush. The Thorn tree bar offers refreshments of every kind: Kenyan Coffee and tea in the early morning as well as a choice of cocktails in the evening. Of course we will also be glad to serve the beverages at the private terrace of your tent. The vespertine campfire in front of the lighted waterhole and all the noises that can only be offered by the African wilderness cares for safari romance under the beautiful starry sky.

We offer free Wireless LAN in all areas of the camp. With DSTV you can watch international TV channels in diverse languages via satellite. An ideal place for undisturbed meetings. The open-air terrace is the perfect location for your coffee breaks. We offer different Baraza meeting packages and will be glad to advise you.
Weddings
