River Camp Ol Pejeta
The River camp in Lakipia is a stunning property that combines exquisite interiors with breathtaking views of Mount Kenya. The camp offers six double ensuite guest tents and two family suites, accommodating a maximum of 20 guests at a time for the utmost privacy. All tents overlook the serene Ngobit river, with private decks and both indoor and outdoor showers. The interiors of our camp are simply stunning, with elegant furnishings and decor that create an atmosphere of refined sophistication. From plush furnishings to beautiful artwork, every detail has been carefully curated to create an environment that is both stylish and welcoming.
Family suite
The camp offers two spacious family tents that can accommodate up to 4 people. The tents feature a master bedroom with a double bed and an adjacent separate area with 2 single beds. The central lounge area offers a comfortable space for families to relax and spend time together, while the exterior sitting deck provides additional space to take in the stunning views of the river and wildlife. With a maximum of 8 pax at any given time, our family tents are able to accommodate those travelling as large families.
Ensuite tents
With a sleeping capacity of 12 guests at any given time in this remote setting, the 6 ensuite guest tents offer one of the most exclusive experiences in East Africa. A big focus of ours while constructing this camp was to be as respectful as possible to its delicate and treasured landscapes and wildlife, building it intimately and sustainably. In addition to the indoor en-suite bathrooms, the guest tents at River camp also feature outdoor showers overlooking the river. These showers provide guests with a unique and refreshing experience, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful views and wildlife while bathing. It is an excellent opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife spotting, making for an unforgettable safari experience.
The dining experience in camp is exceptional, with delicious and freshly prepared meals served in an open-air setting. Guests can savor a variety of sumptuous dishes, accompanied by a selection of fine wines. Weather permitting, guests can also enjoy their meals on the outside deck, taking in the stunning views of the river and surrounding wilderness. It’s an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly complements the overall safari adventure.
Game drives
Whether you head out at sunrise or just before sunset, our daily game drives remain a favourite among guests. The conservancy offers amazing game drives with an opportunity to see the Big Five. Ol Pejeta conservancy offers a lion tracking experience that allows visitors to track and monitor lions with the help of expert guides and researchers. The conservancy also offers night game drives, which provide a unique opportunity to see nocturnal animals such as aardvarks and civets. In the bigger parks like Maasai Mara, you have to be back at camp at a certain time after sunset. Ol Pejeta is home to several endangered species, including the last two remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world. Ol Pejeta also offers educational opportunities for both children and adults, with a focus on wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.
Outdoor activities
There are several outdoor activities such as horse riding, guided bush walks, and mountain biking, that offer a different perspective on the conservancy’s landscape. Additionally there are options of visiting and immersing with the local community. Guests have the option to visit local Samburu villages and get a true feeling of the culture of their surroundings.
