Dining
Masais are indigenous to Naivasha. However, the big farms have threatened their land use and has threatened their nomadic lifestyle. So, they move from place to place to graze their cattle creating semi-permanent structures along their journey. Naivasha Kongoni lodge in conjunction with Private Collection group of hotels works with the Maasai community to ensure that they still preserve their culture. In conjunction with Heavenly Treasures, we are working with Maasai women to create sustainable business in beadwork and other handicrafts. All the Maasai men are herdsmen and go for days to search for grass and water for their cattle. The women often remain at home without any source of income. The partnership between Naivasha Kongoni Lodge and the Maasai women groups in Naivasha thrive by creating alternative sustainable sources of income. A number of their handicrafts can be found displayed in our guest shop.
