Biography
Marc Mességué was born in Paris. But lived in Italy. He chose the Siena University to specialise in herbal medicine. He inherited his great passion from his father Maurice. His father was a famous renovator of modern phytotherapy. His vast experience in phytotherapy pushed him to open several Marc Mességué’s centres in Italy. In 2015 Marc Mességué chose to bring his philosophy of wellness to Kenya.
Philosophy
Wellness is a state that involves all aspects of the human being. It characterises the quality of life of every single person. The concept of wellness has undergone numerous modifications. This has led to a broader and more complete view of the term. Hence, it is no longer centred on the idea of absence of illnesses but an overall state of good physical, psychological and mental health. This view is the cardinal point of many disciplines and trends of philosophical thinking. Wellness is commonly perceived as a condition of harmony between man and environment.
Concept
Marc Mességué pursues the objectives of the culture of correct and healthy eating. Eating well is fundamental to attain an improvement in the quality of life. Eating based on foods that are fresh in season and low in sodium but at the same time tasty and pleasant, matched with sea baths, therapy such as hot jacuzzis, Turkish baths, specific massages and beauty care improve the exterior look. At the heart of Marc Mességué’s treatments is the ancient knowledge of medicinal herbs. The positive effect that herbs have on the treatment of common illnesses is well-known. Herbal teas and infusions is at the heart of the philosophy of Marc Mességué, are of great help in keeping the physiological imbalance caused by many illnesses under check. Every herb has some peculiar therapeutic properties. They may have different effects depending on the people that take them.

Plants of Kenya
The use of medicinal plants is ancient and certainly the first remedies, for many centuries the only ones used, have been those provided precisely by plants. Many are the essays that have been written, both in the Orient and in the West, since the 7th Century BC on medicinal plants. In Kenya we can find the best curative plants in the world, such as Adansonia Digitata, Moringa oleifera, Aloe Vera, Neem and Devil’s Claw.
Baobab
For African peoples the Baobab is food, medicine and a sacred place, so much so that only the sages may climb amongst its branches. It is a plant that can live 5,000 years. The flower of the Baobab lasts only one night, from dawn to dusk; that night the tree is crowded by varied fauna attracted by its sweet nectar. According to legend, that night the tree is inhabited by spirits. Between 5 and 15 meters tall, one trunk can store up to 120,000 liters of water. The inhabitants of Africa feed themselves on the dry pulp of the fruit, eaten directly or mixed into oatmeal porridge. According to a study of the Department of Sciences of the University of Ferrara, all the products derived from the tree are a miraculous panacea.
Devil’s claw
It is a plant present in Southern and Eastern Africa, in the Kalahari Desert and in savannah areas, thus called because of its hooked thorns that can trap small animals which, in some cases, having gotten stuck, die of hunger and thirst.
Neem tree
The Neem is a tree belonging to the family of the Mahogany, native to India and Myanmar and was introduced to Africa at the beginning of the 20th Century to prevent the Sahara Desert from extending further south. This plant has numerous medicinal properties, so much so that in India they call it “the Village Pharmacy”. For centuries the Indians drew upon this plant to treat pain, fever and infections. Believing that the Neem aids in purifying blood, at the beginning of every year many Hindus eat some leaves of this tree. The Neem is useful for oral hygiene. Millions of Indians pluck a twig of this plant every morning, chew its end to soften it and then rub their teeth and gums. Research indicates that this is useful because the substances contained in the bark have strong antiseptic powers.
Moringa Oleifera
Native to the Himalayas, it is making inroads in Africa as an opportunity to improve health conditions and fight malnutrition in the poorest communities. In Sierra Leone Moringa has been described by the Minister for Agriculture Sam Sesay as “the most nutritional plant on Earth” and every part of the plant has nutritional and medicinal values that have properties to treat over 300 diseases, including hypertension and diabetes.
