Enhancing its signature elements of romance and nostalgia, the camp has been redesigned to better showcase its panoramic Masai Mara views. With timeless interiors that are simple yet contemporary and stylish, the new Kichwa Tembo enhances guests’ sense of privacy and enjoyment.
The camp
Kichwa Tembo is renowned for its staff whose welcome, service and energy delight guests. Laid out along the Sabaringo River on the edge of the Oloololo escarpment, Kichwa Tembo looks out onto the plains of Mara. Set on a concession leased from the Maasais, the camp offers total seclusion. The Maasai-inspired suites firmly entrenching it as the unrivalled camp of its size. As guests arrive, they are welcomed by the view. The guest areas incorporate spaces where guests can relax. The different layers can accommodate high guest volumes, yet still provide intimacy. The windows invite the Mara inside, making it feel like part of the area. Guests can escape to the massage room to indulge in a relaxing treatment or browse the redesigned Safari Shop, which offers the finest Kenyan handicrafts. The rim-flow swimming pool, literally on the edge of the Mara, boasts one of the world’s most extraordinary views.
The essence of a safari game drive
Game drives are tailored to suit your preference, with a choice between shorter, twice-daily drives or one full-day game drive, with a stop for a picnic lunch. The game drives are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the Great Migration, so you should not have to travel too far to see the vast herds. However, if the Migration has moved off, or the dramatic river crossings are in progress, you may choose to spend more time on the vehicle in order to maximise your chances of seeing this incredible phenomenon. When the Migration herds are not within easy reach, &Beyond’s properties are perfectly situated in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the Serengeti, with game drives setting off in search of the exceptional resident game. Game drives are conducted in the Serengeti national park, so off-roading and night drives are not permitted.
