Ishara has taken the utmost care to ensure that the land we operate on continues to thrive, as though uninhabited. We have consciously designed our luxury camp with the intention to be discreet, thoughtfully managed, and in tune with the natural rhythms of the wild. We are committed to engaging in activities that make a positive impact on the environment, the animals around us, and the communities in which we serve.

River and family suites

Serene and secluded, our open-plan River Suites are thoughtfully placed on the brink of the wild, amidst the existing ecology. Immerse yourself in the natural environment with unobstructed views of the river, forest, and expansive savanna from every corner of the spacious room. Comprising the majority of suites on our property, these magnificent tents unite true luxury with the grandeur of the Maasai Mara. Wash away the day with an outdoor shower under the radiance of moonlight, or revive your senses with a soak in the vintage bathtub on the deck. If you are looking for the perfect spot to enjoy a drink, a cup of tea, or an afternoon siesta, each deck is furnished with an artisanal wooden day bed and relaxed Tembo chairs to nestle into.

Safari suites

If a true taste of the African savanna is what you crave, our safari suites place you right in the middle of it all, designed to make you feel one with your untamed surroundings. Expect the unexpected and indulge in the thrill of nature’s unknown. Steeped in the bush and facing the plains, the safari suites give you an up-close and personal experience with the majestic creatures of the Mara. Enjoy uninterrupted views of the savanna from your canvased patio and relish the adrenaline rush of primal beasts roaming nearby as you slumber. Elephants, lions, hippos, and hyenas can regularly be heard at night and have been occasionally spotted around camp.

Starbeds

Elevated above ground on a private observation deck, you will enjoy scenic views of vast plains stretching into the horizon and fig trees scattered along the river. From lions roaring at dusk and hippos frolicking in the water, to the lively dawn birdsong and the gentle gurgle of the stream; close your eyes and experience the enchantment that is the Masai Mara night. Let the wide open skies envelop you and the fresh night air fill your lungs. The starbed is the most utterly unique experience on our property, the closest you can get to discovering how magnificently enormous the wilderness is. The ultimate in en plein air exclusivity, the en-suite Starbed hosts up to two guests. Maasai guards patrol throughout the night to assure protection from wandering wildlife.

Ishara is a space to connect with oneself, to invigorate the spirit with moments of wonder and tranquility. While wildlife remains the star of the show, Ishara provides an atmosphere inspired by balance and rejuvenation. Bliss awaits you at our spa, floating serenely above the stunning sweeping plains. Cleanse, restore, and fortify your body and mind with our friendly and experienced therapists. Guests also have the option to enjoy treatments in the comfort of their suites. An artistic homage to Maasai jewellery, our infinity pool offers a refreshing oasis amidst the allure of the wild. Stimulate your senses as you float amidst the swaying evergreens. Stretch and strengthen with our uniquely crafted fitness equipment or with a revitalising yoga session. We also offer fresh juices and healthy snacks for those who wish to simply enjoy the peace of the bush with wellness in mind.

Observation deck

Situated at a spectacular vantage point on the river’s edge, the observation deck raises you up among the treetops. Here, just a few steps away from your suite, you can enjoy exquisite views of the river, the plains, and their wild inhabitants. The observation deck is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunrise yoga session, a stargazing safari, a leisurely chat with friends, or signature Ishara cocktails. For an intimate connection with the Mara, enjoy complimentary use of our high-definition binoculars and telescope.

Waterhole

Every meal at Ishara is thoughtfully crafted to be a holistic, sensory experience. We cater to a variety of palates, and the food is accompanied by the finest wines and spirits from around the world. Our culinary team designs our daily menu to be harmoniously diverse, infusing global cuisine with local ingredients. Each day offers a different selection to choose from and includes options for various dietary requirements.
