Manyatta Camp Tsavo
Nestled in the heart of elephant country, Manyatta camp is located in the grasslands of Tsavo east national park, Kenya, just 8km off the main highway connecting the capital Nairobi to the coastal town of Mombasa. Manyatta camp borders Tsavo east park, one of Kenya’s largest game parks with spectacular views of nearby volcanic outcrops such as the Kasigau, Sagalla and Mwakingali hills. Designed to blend unassumingly into the surrounding environment, it boast an uninterrupted view of Tsavo plains often attracting big game including elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo as well as a rich variety of birdlife.
Location
The property has been built and finished to a very high standard. It’s uniqueness stems from its location in front of Tsavo east national park, with easy access by saloon car, and being only 8km from the main highway it compliments itself to those traveling to Mombasa and the coast region. It is also located only 3km from the main entrance of Tsavo east national park, allowing easy access to go on game drives in the park at any time of day.
Accommodation
Manyatta camp offers a magnificent view of Tsavo national park. All tents have breathtaking views of the park and the seasonal river. Unique to the entire region each tent has been constructed with its own private plunge pool. Thirteen tents offer river view and the other 11 tents face the national park. The attention to detail is second to none with rich furnishings that respect the relaxing atmosphere of its surroundings offering all our guests luxury in the wild.
Exquisite accommodation in the wild
The scheme comprises of 24 en-suite luxury tents each with a private pool facing either Tsavo East National Park or Voi River and the Park behind. Each tent boasts an American king size 6½ x 6½ ft. 4 poster bed. For convenience a kitchenette and mini bar facilities have been installed in the tent. The private plunge pools allow the guest to relax and escape the heat of Tsavo whilst at the same time enjoy the stunning views across the savannah grass lands. In the mid afternoon heat as the plains game start their almost scheduled routine trip to the main water hole at Voi Wildlife Lodge, one can enjoy the game passing by in the privacy of their own pool. A truly unique exotic Kenyan experience which one can now visit and enjoy.
Facilities
The camp has 1 main pool near the Twiga Bar and Twiga restaurant, all the facilities are accessible to guests staying within the camp. The Twiga restaurant is elevated on a 2nd floor and has great views of the surrounding Tsavo east national park. The adjacent lounge area has a pool table and is an ideal place to watch the sun go down after a long game drive. The main pool also has water polo and other activities scheduled depending on the season. There is a children’s playground area in the garden area for those with families.
Voi wildlife lodge
There is also have a spa on the adjacent property Voi wildlife lodge, where guests at Manyatta are welcome to visit the gym, sauna and steam baths at no additional costs as it is inclusive of your package at Manyatta camp. Manyatta camp also has access to Voi wildlife lodge’s conferencing facilities, an ideal place to hold private seminars and retreats. The facilities include chinmaya conference hall capacity 600 pax, Ndovu conference hall capacity 200, Taifa hall capacity 50 pax and acacia board rooms capacity 30 pax. Together with Mandhari lounge which has wifi and air conditioning the facilities for corporate groups are ideal for retreats and seminars.
Wildlife
Manyatta camp provides you the opportunity to see animals in their natural environment. You will get a chance to be closer to wildlife than you will ever be anywhere else. While the animals get a chance to quench their thirst you get the opportunity to view them in their natural habitat. The sight of elephants, buffalos, lions, hippos, antelopes, baboons, rhinos, antelopes and gazelles among many others from the privacy and luxury of your tent is a memory you will cherish forever.

Manyatta camp is 329 Km from the capital city Nairobi, 158km from Mombasa, Tsavo east airstrip is located only 5 minutes’ drive from Manyatta camp where charters are available to destinations throughout Kenya.
Tsavo national park
Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya, and 1 of the largest in the world and because of its size the park was split into 2, Tsavo east & Tsavo west. The eastern part boasts many interesting attractions including the spine of the Yatta plateau, the plateau is the world’s longest terrestrial lava flow, running along the western boundary of the park above the Athi River. Its 290km length was formed by lava from Ol Doinyo Sabuk mountain.
Mudanda rock
The Mudanda rock is a 1.6km inselberg of stratified rock that acts as a water catchment that supplies a natural dam below. It offers an excellent vantage point for the hundreds of elephants and other wildlife that come to drink during the dry season. It is located at the plains between Manyani gate and Voi. Mudanda rock is an excellent vantage point from which to survey the waters of the natural dam that lies at its foot and potently draws to it many hundreds of wallowing elephant, buffalo and other planes game. This area is a favorite leopard hunting ground, although daytime sightings are rare.
Kanderi swamp
Kanderi swamp is close to the Voi gate and provides one of only two drinking areas in Tsavo east during the dry months. It therefore attracts large herds of buffalo and impala as well as yellow baboon and lion.
Aruba dam
Aruba dam was built in 1952 across the Voi river. The reservoir created by the dam attracts many animals and water birds. It is located in on the north of the Voi river. In the dry season, it is usually completely dry. The area usually attracts a lot of planes game such as gazelle and zebra. Today the dam is silted but very fertile, attracting many animals and bird life.
Lugard falls
Lugard falls, named after Frederick Lugard, is actually a series of white water rapids on the Galana river. Further into tsavo east towards the sala gate you will find luggard falls cutting across tsavo east. This is a great vantage point to see crocodiles, hippos and planes game coming to drink at the waters edge.
