About the camp
Samburu Intrepids is a lush oasis on the banks of the great Uaso Nyiro river in Samburu Game Reserve. The tented luxury camp is a delight to be in deliciously cooled by the river breeze and the forest. The
camp sits on raised decks overlooking the brown river where the elephants sometimes make an appearance or the crocodiles come out to lounge by the river’s banks.

The luxury tent is spacious covering 26sqm and is fitted with a 150cmx190cm queen size bed or two twin beds of 90cmx190cm. Set under a palm-thatched roof with netted screens on either side to allow for the river breeze to keep them cool, the tents give you stunning views of the land that is Samburu. The tent boasts the very latest in luxury camping; with soft beds; handsome mahogany closets and a writing desk; as well as an en-suite bathroom with a steaming hot shower; twin washbasins; a flush toilet; and sockets for shavers and battery charging.

Star gazing
Samburu’s skies are stunning. Close to the equator and lying on the edge of the northern hemisphere so close to the southern hemisphere, the resident naturalist can take you on a celestial journey helping you to identify more than 60 constellations of the 88 known ones. You can spotty southern cross, the scorpion and the seven sisters to countless others depending on the time of the year. The Samburu are respected star-gazers with many stories relating to the heavenly bodies, including the planets. The guides will keep you looking at the heavens and make your night out in Samburu a celestial affair.
